Locals shine in inaugural Front Street Fights

Boise, ID (5/16/14) – Jesse Brock (Boise, ID) showed off the grappling ability that made him a Pac-10 champion wrestler at Boise State, claiming a submission victory in the Main Event of the first Front Street Fights at CenturyLink Arena.

Brock improved to 18-8 overall with the victory over Omar Avelar (Moses Lake, WA) at 3:52 of the first round in front of 2,118 fans in downtown Boise.

“I’m just having fun right now,” Brock said after the fight. “It’s taken me quite a few years to get to this point and I’m enjoying it.”

In the co-Main Event, Nampa’s Colton Vaughn (5-4) scored an emphatic knockout victory at the 54-second mark of the opening round after slamming his opponent, Salt Lake City’s Eti Palu, to the ground in the opening seconds of the fight.

Ricky Steele (Boise, ID) picked up his second professional win against no defeats with a strong, unanimous-decision victory over Gabriel Paleyo (Blackfoot, ID) in a fight that was spent predominantly on the ground near the edge of the cage.

Miles Hunsinger (Nampa, ID) improved to 3-0 in his young pro career with a solid victory in front of the home fans as well, defeating Coeur d’Alene’s Jordan Currie via submission at 2:03 of the second round.

Thomas Hawkins, Darneal Stephens and Veta Arteaga each picked up victories during the amateur undercard.
